I sat in jail for almost a year before the judge gave me bail. The prosecutor never showed up for at least four of my court appearances, so the judge postponed them.
One after another, a part of me was taken while I waited and waited.
I lost everything — housing, care of my daughter. My hair started to fall out. I even felt like I was losing my mind. I was helpless and hopeless.
Can you imagine being confined to a cage where you do not know what is going to happen to you or your child? It took my soul away.
