LOVE JXN: SAVING OURSELVES VIOLENCE INTERRUPTION PROGRAM

Metropolitan cities across the United States have experienced significant violence for decades, and Jackson Mississippi, has not been immune to this disease. Like the infectious diseases in our history (i.e. cancer and etc.), violence can be better understood and more successfully treated as an epidemic. Using the methods and strategies associated with disease control – detecting and interrupting conflicts, identifying and treating the highest risk individuals, and changing social norms – trained community members, health practitioners, social service providers, police and City government can reduce violence, if not eliminate it. PAI is working with community-based organizations to establish a violence interruption program in Jackson, Mississippi. Check back in with us in the fall of 2020 for updates.
